BASORUN FAJIMI IBADAN: The progenitor of the family that rose to the rank of the King (Baale) of Ibadan in 1897 and also was crowned by the Alaafin of Oyo, Alaafin Adeyemi in 1899 as Basorun, making him one of the only four Basorun’s to have ruled Ibadan City since inception.

BLACK, RED AND GREEN CROWN: This is pro emancipation color of Africa, representing African Blackness, Blood that has been split to protect our heritage and existence and the green color represents the fertility of the land.

ODUDUWA HEAD SYMBOL WITH BEADS AROUND: Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, was an emperor of the Yoruba (12th century CE). It is an ancestral dynasty, the first OOni of Ile Ife and progenitor of the legitimate kings of the Yoruba people. The last born of Oduduwa was Oranyan, a Yoruba king, the first Alaafin and founder of Oyo-Ile (which his descendants expanded into the Oyo Empire) in 1300.

IGI ODAN TREE: This is a very symbolic tree for most ruling and powerful houses in Ibadan, each ruling house is expected to have this tree in its compound as it was from this tree that the name of the city was derived EBA ODAN and later changed to Ibadan. Our IGI ODAN can still be seen today as portrayed in the family crest and has stayed this way since the 18 centuries.

SNAIL SHELLS: The two snail shells are symbolic of the people and descendants of Ibadan, its importance can be authenticated in the Oriki of Ibadan land.

Meaning: A delicacy food significant with Ibadan People.

YEROMBI AND LADIMON: Yerombi, was the father of Basorun Fajimi, he was responsible for bringing Basorun Fajimi to Ibadan in the company of Aare Latoosa, who also went on to become a renowned name in the city, Ladimon is the name of the house from which Yerombi and by default Basorun Fajimi originated from in Ilora. The compound is still there at present.

THE BLACK STALLIONS: This is a symbol of strength and reverence of war, in the period of Basorun Fajimi, he was a very powerful warrior that won several wars, he is known to only always use black stallion horse when going to war, one of the reasons why the title of Basorun was bestowed on him by the Alaafin.
