BASORUN FAJIMI

The people who founded Basorun Fajimi Town are: Adeoye, Bangbaade and Basorun Fajimi, the town was previously known as Orogun, until the founders took possession of the area. After a while Basorun Fajimi started looking for some of the slaves he had kept in the town before going to war.  He later found them in a place called Alogilo close to Orogun river. Upon seeing Fajimi, the slaves were very happy and content because Fajimi is known for taking good care of his slaves and treating them as members of his own family.

Fajimi asked the slaves what they were doing at Orogun instead of where he had left them, they explained that they left the place he had situated them because some people were kidnapping and taking them to another place once he had gone to war. As a  result of this – they fled to find safety in Alogilo, close to the river.

After a little while, the Alaafin of Oyo enthroned Fajimi as Basorun of Yoruba land, one of the only four people to be conferred with such a powerful honor in Ibadan to date. As a result of this, Adeoye and Bangbade insisted that the name of Orogun Town be called  Bashorun Fajimi Town as a sign of respect and honor for his status in the land.

This was how the Town of Fajimi came to be.
